Siglo XII

 Primera vez en que se llama Holocausto a matar hebreos.

La usó un monje benedictino , Richar devizes, que relata la amtanza de hebreos que hubo durante la coronación del rey Ricardo corazón de León  el año 1189.

Fue así el suceso:

"[...] the gift presented by the Jews of London was suspected of being the token of a sinister plot. Rumours spread. A general massacre ensued, described by the chronicler Richard of Devizes as a holocaustum, adding, irritably, that it took so long to 'send them to the devil, that the work had to be continued a second day'".

     Aunque los reyes protegían a los hebreos:

"To his credit Richard, who, like his father had taken the Jews under his protection, attempted to outlaw this first wave of English pogroms."
